Here we go again with the promotion of late Major Max Mahama in this story as if the promotion was some good they did for him.
Okay, the late officer was promoted from Captain to Major, but the way this is being harped in the news media is as though the promotion was handed over as a postumous gift on a silver plater.
In deed I heard the President saying during a visit to the family a week after the incident that as Commander-in-Chief he had the power to promote the late officer.
Did we not hear that the officer sat and passed his Captain to Major promex? Then of course, he also had to mark time waiting for the five-year mandatory period to be promoted. Unfortunately, the officer died just a week before his promotion.
Whether dead or alive, this promotion was due him meritoriously. He worked hard for it. Can we for once stop talking about it as though the President awarded this promotion as if he did the late officer some good?
Since the promotion from Major to Lieutenant Colonel is not by written examination but by merit, for me if the President had gone a step ahead and promoted the late officer to a Lt. Col., and people talk about it the way they are doing now then that should be sufficient.
In the face of people's calamity, many are they who want to be seen as empathizers and good people.

If that was the case, why do we hear other conflicting stories that he was relieved by a junior officer recently to enable him come down to Accra to write his promex?
