The writer is right. Go to the Polytechnics. Malnourished resources, they have. Equipment paucity. Govt has been unable to equip existing public technical and vocational schools adequately. Where is this economically handicapped govt going to find the resources to equip the Polytechnic Universities? The conversion is for votes, nothing else. Current staff in the Polytechnics are mostly social science materials. Where are the technological staff going to come from? Where will the funds come from to train students practically? Prof Aryeetey has given his verdict: It will fail. White elephants, they will be.

This an intellectual argument and worthy analysing thoroughly. I agree with the point made about we rushing it without the proper structure in place. We have a culture of no paying attention to academia content and outcome. It president is only taking a political decision with an end interest .let us do the proper analysis devoid of partisan consideration. President Attack Mills came in and with his bloated ego disbanded the 4 year high school that had been established by a commissioned report. When the first group of the four years and three year wrote their WAEC examx, it was evident that the four years performed better. So we need to have a system that , going forward ,will not distroy the future the more. We need a national discourse to discuss .
