Nana Asante,
It is not only Rawlings and the British High Commisioner who have spoken about this. Check articles from one Kwame Yeboah too.

I agree with the sentiments of The Chronicle but the point is are these pastors breaking any laws? If they are not, then the BNI cannot be let lose on them. It is against the law to defraud people but if those who are defrauded do not bring action against the defrauders, the security agencies cannot go in to act.
The issue of making churches pay tax is a delicate one. It is even more confusing in Ghana since tax collection is a difficult thing. But all organisations operating in public have to be registered. It is there that their activities can be monitored.
But the best thing is to educate Ghanaians so that they will not expose themselves to these fraudsters.

After all non of the pastors followers ve ever complain of being defrauded. give us a break ok, we re tired of foolish journalism n stupid media houses not using the privilege they ve to contribute to the economic growth rather than trying to shape people who are even wiser and well to do in the society as to how to live their spiritual life.if u re talking of fraudster, then i ve to remind u of those who paid woyome that GHC51m.

These people are the cause of making people use them thinking these so called pastors can make them rich over night not knowing that they are making these thieves rich over night.
The matter of government stepping to regulate them is long over due and bringing this to the fore is a good service to society.
It is a pity that our so called christian council is quite on this issue because they are not all that better then these plain thieves .
Society must wake up to fight for these people followers to know that nobody can make them rich if they don't work hard .
Those who know evil is been committed must speake out and to lead this call is the news men who must help to expose these thieves.

I can't see how a sane individual will accept some of the nonsense that are perpetrated in the name of God. Prophesies do not come through, healing is done when the person has been to hospital and got cured. They have not done a single healing that can be termed a miracle and yet these characters are lauded as healers and prophets and so on.
There is nothing wrong with the orthodox churches and their clergy. They do not claim to do what they cannot do.
Curses and fake prophesies are the mark of the devil; all lies.

Can't prove the spiritual, after all!
But, there are the Stupid and the Ignorant; and there are the Greedy and the Con Artists!
