They are not afraid to steal billions from their country so fear is not part of the equation. It's all insatiable greed and self-interest. Do the politicians think of you or anybody else when enjoying their stolen millions? No. They won't even build one ultra-modern hospital where they can be treated. Bongo died in Spain where he was receiving medical treatment. Gabon doesn't even have roads between major urban centres or between regions.

Brilliant piece,my good friend. Your line of argument is timely, valid and realizable if Ghana shifts its obsession with partisanship and evolves an Africa-centered socio-economic model to fit its resource capabilities. Naturally our situation is more aligned with a progressive democracy in which nationalization is one of the options. Terminology or language-set may be an issue for intellectuals but the ultimate solution is about WHAT WORKS FOR GHANA as an example for the rest of Africa.

Joy,
So what solution do you propose? Continue the same bankrupting IMF-SAP programme that has caused our inane leaders to sell off all our key economic sectors to foreigners?
My proposal makes more sense. In that, if effected, it will transform our nation industrially. All we need is good, courageous, effervescent, intelligent, assertive leadership, that understands and will defend Ghana's national self-interest to the hilt.
When Dr. Nkrumah nationalised our key economic sectors and provided good leadership through the implementation of a 5/7 year Development Programme, Ghana was the best industrialising nation in the world. We never had HIPC. HIPC is actually an IMF-SAP imposition, not a feature of nationalisation (get your facts right).
The IMF-SAP and the Ghana private sector has not built one single key enterprise. They are just 'divesting' what Dr. Nkrumah built - that is their whole claim to economics!
So please rethink your argument.
Regards.

The development of nations are not achieved by entrenched ideological position but progressive thinking involving all sectors. The private sector like the public sector is not without its advantages and disadvantages. Ghana must go with options that consider what works for the particular need at the time. What does one say about governments stepping with rescue packages for private banks?

African Star,
The IMF-SAP has ruined Ghana's private sector. Rich western Transnational Corporations (TNCs) control all major economic activities in the nation. Evidence: they have the most capitalised shares in our Stock Exchange. They control it!
Recently when our government attempted to stimulate fiscal liquidity by selling Treasury Bonds, the TNC foreigners bought most of it.
Our weak private sector is reduced to import-export of cheap, shoddy Chinese material goods. Our service sector is under-invested. There is more foreign exchange repatriated by Ghanaians abroad than our local businesses!
Ghana has retrogress economically in 31 years of IMF-SAP bankruptcy. The only option left for us to transform our nation industrially through outright nationalisation. Everything else amounts to economic tail-chasing!
If my proposal is not implemented, pastors like the 419 Nigerian, T.D. Joshua, Obinim, Otabil, and Duncan Williams will continue to make their billions by bamboozling our impoverished citizenry.
In the absence of a formidable economic programme that will fully employ citizens, prevalence of religions becomes the order. Religion becomes a feature of poverty, ignorance, backwardness and powerlessness. It reflects social resignation to divine intervention!
There is no substitute for a 10-15 year science and technology-led Development and Modernisation Programme. We just need good analytical leaders who can bravely act on our behalf.
Regards.

Far India,
How I can feed one million Ghanaians?
There is no substitute for a 10-15 year science and technology-led Development and Modernisation Programme (DMP). This will be funded by renationalising our key economic sectors that are currently 'divested' (stolen) by the IMF-SAP.
The DMP produce scientific and technological advancement. It must MOBILISE all Ghanaians - without prejudice or bias of age, ethnicity or gender – into hardwork to accomplish the objectives of the DMP.
'The resultant fruits of our hardwork must be invested in the provision of: quality food and material goods; prevalent educational provisions in science/technology, arts and philosophy; Social Enterprises (profit-making but offering affordable products and services), industries and jobs; housing (capability of building millions of homes); national infrastructure like roads, public amenities, etc. It is only after NATIONALISATION that any government in Ghana can successfully provide free JHS/SHS. Anything short of this amounts to tail-chasing!'

PREZ KWAME NKRUMAH MADE A SPEECH DURING GHANA INDEPENDENCE DAY THAT “FROM NOW ON WE MUST CHANGE OUR ATTITUDE AND MINDS”. THAT IS, WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE RULED/DOMINATE BY ALIENS/FOREIGNERS.
GHANA MUST REPENT QUICKLY AND EMBRACE DR. KWAME NKRUMAH AND HIS VISIONS ABOUT GHANA/AFRICA TO HELP GHANA AND AFRICA GET TO THE TOP.
AFRICA MUST QUICKLY EMBRACE HON MARCUS GARVEY, DR. KWAME NKRUMAH, MALCOM X AND THEIR VISIONS FOR AFRICA WITHOUT DELAY TO HELP AFRICA MOVE TO THE TOP. IT IS TOO FRAGILE/DANGEROUS FOR AFRICA TO WASTE TIME IN EMBRACING HON MARCUS GARVEY, DR. KWAME NKRUMAH, MALCOM X AND THEIR VISIONS FOR AFRICA. You must rephrase your theme to be : What I plan to do regarding the lack of revolutionary nationalistic fervour in Ghana. Then encourage others to join you. The armchair philospher is the bane of political activism and action in Ghana!

Ibn Batuta,
You and I are doing the same thing - attempting to change public opinion through Internet-relayed public discourse.
Hence, I do not need to be in Ghana this moment to contribute to its development and modernisation. The Internet is adequate for this purpose for now.
Besides, I am a Ghanaian citizen who for the nature of my work, frequently travel to and from Ghana. My educational charity is contributing its quota to our national development.
I have a long track record of practical contribution to mother Ghana. But not to worry, very soon I will reside permanently home. Home sweet home!
