YES THIS IS THE DISCUSSION

History abounds with instances whereby the majority in supposedly democratic and non-democratic countries,in several instances, denied the full legal and human rights to the minority.

Cases in point:In the U.S,racist politiians, especially in the South from the 17th Century, passed ANTI-MISCEGENATION LAWS that prohibited and criminalized interracial marriages between whites and blacks. THESE "KKK LAWS" WERE ON THE BOOKS till the U.S Supreme Court threw them away in 1967.In the same way,the Court ruled against school segegation laws in the Brown v. Board of Education(1954)case.

In Nazi Germany,Hitler's government passed the Nuremberg Laws(1935) - part of which criminalized marriages between members of the ARYAN RACE and non-Aryans(Jews,gypsies and blacks).

During the decades of rule by the Apartheid government in South Africa, the government passed the Immorality Act of 1950 - which also criminalized interrracial marriages and all sexual relations between whites and non-whites.

Societies change over the course of time, and obnoxious laws passed in the heat of national angst, over what the majority deemed inappropriate, always inevitably get junked in later years.

THE NEW SOUTH AFRICA has provided a paradigm for other Afrian countries to follow. The cries and howls of conservative "money preachers", backward traditional leaders(some with ten wives)and their supporters -did not stop the passage of the Human Rights laws protecting homosexuals in that country.

Today,SOUTH AFRIA remains the most vibrant, enlightened and culturally diverse society in Africa.Of course, the SKY DID NOT FALL as some homophobes projected.

THE TIME HAS COME FOR HOMOSEXUALS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS IN GHANA TO CHALLENGE THE ANTIQUATED AND HOMOPHOBIC LAWS(BEQUETHED TO US BY THE BRITISH)IN THE SUPREME COURT.AND THERE'S NO DOUBT THE DISCRIMINATORY SECTIONS OF THE LAW WILL BE THROWN OUT.

PEACE
