Ashanti Regional Director for the Invincible Forces of the ruling New Patriotic Party has warned they might be forced to crack down on their rival group of the same party, the Delta Forces “if they try any violent acts again.”

According to Kwabena Boakye, it is the vigilante group’s responsibility to protect the NPP’s interest and to protect every action of the president, Nana Akufo Addo.

Kwabena Boakye was speaking in reaction to last week’s violent takeover at the Regional Coordinating Council during which the newly appointed Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.

A vigilante group believed to be affiliated with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Delta Force on Friday morning stormed the premises of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, demanding the removal of the Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.

The rowdy group destroyed some property and forced the Security Coordinator out of his office.

George Adjei was recently appointed by President Akufo-Addo, but the group has indicated that they cannot work with him because he did not contribute to the party’s electoral success.

But Kwabena Boakye said, “it is our responsibility to protect the party’s interest and to ensure that all appointees of the president feel safe while discharging their duties.”

“We are solidly behind George Adjei to his work as security coordinator and nobody dares to harass or intimidate him.”

“To this end, we are also serving notice that if the president appoints another person to replace George Adjei, it won’t be peaceful at all…we will chase the person the away.”

“The president has the power to appoint people he thinks are fit to help his administration and no other person or group can harass our appointees and so the delta forces should be prepared,” the spokesperson said.

“If they try that nonsense again, it won’t be peaceful at all and so we plead with the president to show authority by maintaining George Adjei as the security coordinator and not to replace him…any replacement won’t sit well with us at all,” Kwabena Boakye charged.
