We need to redefine party organisation – Deputy Regional Organizer

John Assibi Nyaaba, John Assibi Nyaaba,

Mr John Assibi Nyaaba, a Deputy Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region, has called for redefinition of the party’s organisation at the grassroots to galvanize votes and return the opposition party to power.

He said the position of organizer was very critical in every political party since “the organizer happens to be the field operations officer who goes into the trenches to embark on a membership drive, recruit, train and ensure high turnout anytime the party is involved in an election.”

According to him, “the NDC, is still doing well, but statistically, our votes gets lower, which means that we need to redefine party organisation in the region,” he said, and appealed to delegates to give him the opportunity to serve the party.

Mr Nyaaba who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Zuarungu prior to his vetting, indicated that one of the reasons why the party lost some votes in the region was partly due to the regional executives interference at the polling station and the constituency level.

“When you give people positions and you do not allow them to work, there is that apathy and I want to do that,” he emphasized.

The Deputy Organizer disclosed that he would collaborate with other executives to create “resources and logistics unit” at the regional office which would be headed by the regional organizer as well as all constituency organizers, and insisted that such an initiative would create transparency in resource distribution across constituencies to enable proper planning.
