Legon Cities goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda disagrees with talks for Ghanaian players in the domestic league to accept a pay cut amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

The coronavirus pandemic has plunged a lot of clubs across the globe in to financial crisis which has led to calls for players to accept a pay cut.

Some players have had their contracts terminated for refusing to accept the pay cut.

In Ghana, there has been talks in same regards but Fatau Dauda disagrees with those calling for Ghanaian players on the domestic front to take a pay cut as their plight is different from players abroad.

“In Ghana the economy is not good. The club owners are really trying by paying players from the own pockets. The truth is that Ghanaian players don’t earn much and it will be difficult for them to even accept a pay cut”, he told Happy FM.

According to reports some players earn less than $100 in the Premier League and clubs owe players in salary arrears and winning bonuses.

Berekum Chelsea defender Ahmed Adams and Chairman for the Ghana FA Club Licensing Board Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh have all kicked against the Ghanaian players taking a pay cut.
