Information coming in from sources at the University of Education, indicates that a team of Accountants from the various campuses of the University of Education across the country, most of whom previously worked with the Acting Finance Officer, Bruno Bajuaose Chirani, have gone to convince him into withdrawing the suit filed against the Vice Chancellor, Rev.Fr. Prof. Afful Broni and Mr. Osei Barima, Registerer of the University.

We are reliably informed that since the suit was filed on Monday, September 9, the defendants have done everything possible to frustrate the petitioner from going about his normal duties and employed destructive and diversionary tactics to frustrate the work of Bruno Bajuaose Chirani.

As at the time of this publication, we understand that the office of Mr. Chirani has been locked up allegedly by the Vice Chancellor, denying him access for the past 3 days.

Subsequent to that, Bruno has also been handed a transfer letter signed by the Registrar, who is also one of the defendants in the suit. It is being alleged that the transfer of Mr. Bruno Chirani was meant to intimidate and get him to withdraw the case before the Winneba High Court.

Our sources also allege that the lock up on Bruno’s office forms part of a grand scheme to dismiss the Acting Finance Officer after 10-days of being absent from work, which would be in line with the Public Service Act.

The team of accountants, we are told, visited Mr Chirani with a red Mercedes Benz, belonging to one Dr. Bonsu on Ejumako Campus but being driven by an accountant from Ejumako campus of the University, who seems to be the head of the delegation tasked with getting Bruno to withdraw the case.

It is also being alleged that the team is promising to get Mr. Chirani reinstated as Acting Finance Officer and subsequently confirmed as substantive Finance Officer should he agree to the demands of withdrawal being made on him.

The question many are asking is why they are moving heaven and hell to get Bruno to withdraw the case if they are clean? With the inauguration of the Prof Obeng Mireku-led governing council many are of the hope that they will not be compromised as their predecessors in the past.

As it stands now, time is our best judge.
