Two persons including a pupil were electrocuted on Tuesday evening after a 30-minute downpour in the Western Region twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi.

3news.com’s Williams Benjamin Peters reports that several properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis have been destroyed. Structures at the Effiakuma police barracks were completely destroyed, rendering many officers homeless.

“One police officer got hurt and has since been rushed to the hospital,” our reporter said. The pupil, who was electrocuted, died on the spot while the other, a middle-aged lady, is said to be responding to treatment at the Takoradi SDA Clinic.

Meanwhile, the Western Region Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (Nadmo), Japheth Baidoo, says they have run out of relief items. He, however, assured that talks are ongoing with headquarters in Accra for immediate dispatch of items for victims.
