Sunyani Regional Hospital nurses displaced after heavy downpour ripped off roofs of nurses quarters

A torrential rainfall has destroyed some parts of the nurses’ quarters at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.

The heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds caused havoc to the whole of Block Three and some portions of Block Two of the nurses’ quarters.

The rains ripped off the roofing of both blocks, displacing all the occupants in the process.

The situation has forced the all affected staff to be relocated by management to temporal locations.

According to the Medical Director, Dr E.K Amponsah, the situation has a serious effect on the operations of the hospital as the hospital needs its staff to be in the right frame of mind to be able to discharge their duties with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country,

Dr Amponsah revealed that they need wood and roofing sheets to renovate the building as soon as possible for the affected staff to move in and appealed to the general public to come to their aid.

“As you can see the rainfall has caused a lot of destruction here. The whole of Block Two plus a portion of Block Three has been destroyed. All the nurses there have been relocated to a different place but that is a temporary place so management is working tirelessly to have the place back in shape immediately so that they can have a sound place to lay their heads. It is a huge cost and so we are appealing to individuals and other philanthropic organisations to come to our aid. It is an appeal but it very urgent as it has some effect on our operations at the hospital.”
