Peter Amewu hints of shakeup at BOST

Energy Minister John Peter Amewu says Ghanaians should expect a major shakeup at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) by the end of October 2018, after a Forensic Auditing of BOST's operations between 2013 and 2018.

According to him, persons whom adverse findings would be made against them would be made to face the full rigours of the law.

The Audit Committee is also expected to provide recommendations for the restructuring of BOST management, operations, and financial management.

BOST is currently in the news, following the payment of US$3 million to Springfield Energy, as well as some transfer of monies from BOST into the Chief of Staff's Sundries Account during the John Mahama administration.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, September 20, 2018, Energy Minister John Peter Amewu stated that persons whose actions and inactions have caused the state to lose millions of cedis would be punished, whether they are currently working at BOST or have exited.

"There is going to be a shakeup in BOST...You should expect that. You know, if you listened carefully to the statement I have read, we're going to examine the operations of BOST over a period and immediately that happens, there is going to be that shake up.

"Shake up doesn't necessarily mean with the current crop of leaders, but if you have been in BOST before and for some reasons your actions and inactions have brought us to where we are, you must expect that shake up to affect you," he warned.
