Information available to DAILY GUIDE indicates that security personnel and some young people believed to be supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), clashed at the office of Zoomlion Ghana Limited in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.

The security personnel were able to protect the targeted officers and escorted them out of their offices to a safer location.

The youth reportedly demanded the removal of some selected personnel from the company.

The military has since taken over the Zoomlion offices to protect lives and properties.

According to information, the youth said their party is in power and that they wanted to remove all persons appointed by the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) regime to pave way for them (NPP youth) to be employed.

Some staff who witnessed the incident said the youth threatened to beat them up, should they refuse to cooperate with them.

Early this year, the Zoomlion office was attacked by supporters of the NPP who allegedly took away 17 motor king engines.

A staff who spoke to DAILY GUIDE on condition of anonymity said they had information that a group was coming to attack the company as well as the technical officer, manager and operations officer of the company.

He indicated that they informed the military about it, adding that they had lost trust in the police because the incident started in January and it’s still ongoing without the police doing anything about it.

According to him, Zoomlion is a private company and that if the NPP youth wanted some staff out, they should rather contact their bosses and stop the attacks on the company.

The entire staff of the company have appealed to the regional executives of the NPP to intervene.
