Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has declared his support for John Boadu in the General Secretary race of the party.

Speaking on ’21 Minutes with KKB’, Nana Obiri Boahen said Mr. Boadu’s leadership skills are remarkable having worked as his deputy for some years now.

Although he admitted that his pronouncement would be unfair to other candidates, the legal brain noted he cannot be silent over the issue as he admires the character of the party’s Acting General Secretary and would love to work under him again.

“He’s a human being. I enjoy his company. If the party would consider me for the position of the Deputy General Secretary, in all sincerity, I’ll root for him” said Nana Obiri Boahen. “He has accommodated me as a friend, senior brother, and colleague. It is not good for me to make this disclosure at this time… but he’s one particular person that I’m praying to God that he retains his position.”

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of NPP in September 2015 upheld the decision of the Disciplinary Committee to suspend indefinitely Kwabena Agyapong, along with the National Chairman, Paul Afoko; 2nd Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, for working against the party’s chances of winning the 2016 elections.

Then National Organiser, John Boadu was given additional responsibility as the acting General Secretary following the suspension of Mr. Agyepong. According to Nana Obiri Boahen, Mr. Boadu’s level of communication and humility as an Executive of the party has been splendid.

“Some may deliver than him but in my candid opinion, I pray he wins. He corporates with me. I have worked with a lot of people in this world but my relationship with him is superb,” he said.
