NDC General Secretary leads delegation to SI Council Meeting in Dominican Republic

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah on Saturday, January 26 left Accra for the 26th SI Council meeting in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The meeting which is being organised for socialist, labour and social democratic parties will discuss matters of democracy and security as well as how to protect a country from some new emerging threats including the deliberate discrediting of democratic institutions; the press; fake news; cyber-attacks and some invasive technologies.

Over 150 political parties and organisations from all seven continents, including Africa are expected to participate in this annual event.

This was contained in a press release sighted by GhanaWeb and signed by Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the NDC.

Mr Asideu Nketia who also doubles as one of the five Vice Presidents of the Socialist International (SI), was accompanied by Dr Karl Mark Arhin, the Deputy Director of International Relations for the NDC and two other party elites.

The Council meeting which is scheduled to take place from the 28th to 29th January 2019, is being hosted by the Dominican Revolutionary Party, a political movement in the Dominican Republic.

NDC GENERAL SECRETARY LEADS A DELEGATION TO SI COUNCIL MEETING IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Comrade Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah who doubles as a Vice President of the Socialist International (SI), has left Accra today 26th January, 2019 for a SI Council meeting in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Council meeting which is scheduled to take place on 28th -29th January 2019 will be hosted by a member party in the said country, the Dominican Revolutionary Party, PRD. The meeting will discuss among other major issues, how to protect our democracies from emerging new threats such as the deliberate discrediting of democratic institutions; the press; fake news; cyber-attacks and invasive technology.

Also among the delegation is the Deputy Director of International Relations for the NDC, Dr. Karl Mark Arhin.
