More infrastructure projects coming – Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says Ghanaians should expect many infrastructural projects to be rolled out by the President Akufo-Addo’s government in the coming weeks and months.

According to him, even though the New Patriotic Party’s administration has achieved a lot over the last 21 months, it was still poised to undertake more infrastructure projects.

He was speaking at the Ministry of Information’s Townhall Meeting with Government’s Economic Management Team (EMT) at the College of Physicians and Surgeons on Wednesday in Accra.

Dr. Bawumia spoke about upcoming roads, housing, fishing and dams projects.

He stated that “so many infrastructural projects are coming. So much is coming. The Sinohydro project is starting next week with the cutting of the sod in Tamale.”

According to the Vice President, “next week, we start the $2 billion infrastructure development so the president will cut the sod for the first interchange in the three northern regions which will be the Tamale Interchange.”

He added that “$1.5 billion of this money is going into roads and the roads will be across all 16 regions of Ghana.”

‘We won’t discriminate like NDC’

The Vice President assured that the projects would be spread equitably across the 16 regions of Ghana and that the seeming discriminations against some regions during the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) government would not be repeated by the NPP.

He noted emphatically that “you will not have a situation where like during the period of the NDC the whole of the Upper West Region not one major road was constructed in eight years. The whole of the Upper East, not one major road was constructed in eight years.”
