Method by Anas problematic; We need to streamline it - Security Expert

International Relations and Security Expert, Irbard Ibrahim, says Anas have chosen a path in naming, shaming and jailing perceived corrupt practices but his method is problematic despite his exploits.

He suggested Anas Aremeyaw Anas is also prone to extreme danger due to the method of journalism he has decided to pursue. However, the method he is using raises the issue of ethics and morality, he added. Speaking on the debate over the method used by Anas, he said, the method needs to be reviewed.

Irbard Ibrahim also made reference to the allegations leveled against Anas by Kennedy Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central and has called for caution. ‘’We will commend Anas for his tremendous work but we have to tread cautiously. Anas is a national hero but someone is raising concerns over the modus operandi and methods.

I believe that, instead of blaming ourselves, let’s subject this to intellectual national debate. Should the state support Anas or is he working as an individual? Instead of giving him huge amount of money, we could strengthen our institutions by resourcing EOCO and the rest,’’ to support him.

‘’His methodology is problematic because every human being has got a price. You may reject some monetary offers but you may not be able to resist some offers,’’ and setting an example he said, ‘’you may have done something for someone and in showing an appreciation; the person may decide to give you something.

Are we going to call this an entrapment, bribe, a gift or what? The security analyst stressed that it won’t be fair to either take sides over the ongoing saga between Anas and Mr. Agyapong.

But we have to look at the two angles holistically so in continuing his [Anas’] investigative work, we will streamline him so the methodology and ethics would be re-looked at.’’ On the release of the supposed pictures of Anas he said, the investigator has chosen a path that puts his life at extreme risk.

‘’It is part of the occupational hazards. This is the path the young man has chosen for himself and I believe he and the family, understand the risk involved. Anas is aware of the risks associated with his style of journalism,’’ he told Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
