Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, may soon resign from office.

The decision, it has been alleged, is fueled by the lack of resources at the office to execute the mandate given to him.

A year after its establishment, he has reportedly described his office as an “almost hopeless situation.”

YEN.com.gh understands that Amidu operates from a small three-bedroom house, and this poses a challenge to his work.

Amidu, since his appointment, has been in the news on a number of occasions, speaking about the lack of resources to work with.

The latest article from him, titled “The Whitaker Scenario – Stifling Independent Investigative Agencies of Funds, is seen to be the last straw.

Martin Amidu was the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice from January 2011 till January 2012. On 11th January, 2018, he was named by the president of Ghana as the Special Prosecutor for the newly created Office of the Special Prosecutor.
