A one-year memorial service is currently underway for Major Maxwell Adam Mahama at Burma Camp in remembrance of the fallen hero.

Family, friends, dignitaries and former colleagues are all gathered at the venue to remember the late soldier.

Major Mahama, who was an officer with the 5th Infantry Battalion, was lynched and his body partly burnt by some youth of Denkyira-Obuasi – now New Obuasi – in the Central Region on Monday, May 29, 2017, on suspicion that he was an armed robber.

Following this, government set up a Major Mahama Trust Fund that will cater adequately for Barbara Mahama and his two children. The law ensures that all monies intended for the welfare and upkeep generally, and particularly the education of the children are properly administered by a Board of Trustees with a fiduciary relationship with the beneficiaries of the Fund and the country

Fourteen suspects are currently standing trial for various offences including murder.
