It's a lie, Amidu is not investigating me - Freddie Blay

Newly elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has denied reports that he is on the investigation radar of Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, amid raising concerns on how he independently procured 275 mini busses to be given to each NPP constituency office across the country.

Freddie Blay, also the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), claimed he was shocked at the accusations and the alleged report because he has not received any official communication from Martin Amidu regarding a probe into the matter.

“I’m surprised at the attacks, surprised about the suggestions, accusations. Some are even saying drag Freddie Blay to EOCO. Some even suggest that Martin Amidu is investigating Freddie Blay.”

“It’s all a lie,” he vehemently stated.

Speaking on the issue on JoyNews’ AM Show, Blay claimed that he is not the first person to make such gesture adding that the buses are not for free but part of the plans to generate income for the party.



“I am not the only person who has done it before. Others have done it before. We want to generate income for the party and we want to encourage them and it is not a dash. It will be used to work and make money for the party.” He indicated.

In order to encourage investment and free flow of money in the various parties, Freddie Blay suggested that other politicians follow similar steps so as not to give the impression that officials only acquire wealth while in power.



In his words, “With the class of politicians that we are, we should not only give the impression that we only get money when we are in power. We shouldn’t give the impression that we only depend on government and find ways and means and people accept it that politicians are corrupt.”
