The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has openly condemned the attacks on the Judiciary, by some NPP vigilante group members called the delta force, and is promising to ensure that, the laws of Ghana are respected and applied without fear or favour.

His comments come after there have been several calls on the President, to publically condemn the activities of vigilante groups especially, the NPP ones (Delta force and Invisible force) for acts described as unacceptable and frowns on the rule of law.

Some members of the delta force group last week attacked a Kumasi Circuit court to free some of its members who had been put before the court for allegedly attacking the Ashanti Regional security coordinator.

According the group, the regional security had no right to remain in the office after their party the NPP won power during the December polls and so directed the security coordinator to vacate his office to allow one of their own to occupy the office.

The court has since imposed a two thousand four hundred cedis fine on them while the substantive case is being heard.

The Christian Council, and other bodies including the opposition NDC have also heavily condemned the attack, with the NDC call for the resignation of the National Security, Interior, Ashanti Regional Ministers, including the IGP, to resign their post.

But in his first Easter message to Ghanaians, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo called for reflection on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ but stated that crime under his leadership will not be tolerated and will be pursued without fear or favour.

“I regret very much the unfortunate incidents that happened in Kumasi recently. In these matters the law enforcements are to apply the laws of our lands. Let me sound this warning that, it would not be under my watch that people acts with impunity. Neither would be under my watch that the laws of our lands would not be respected. That will not happen.”

“Crime has no political under my government and offenders would be dealt with according to the rule of law. We are a nation governed by the rule of law and the law will work without fear or favour,” the President said.
