National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential hopeful, Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has said he will be in a pole to deal with allegations of corruption better if he is only the President of the country after the 2020 polls.

“Every President fights corruption based on or whatever happens in his or her term. …I have not been a President”, the former Trades Minister stated on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana.

Asked the difference between him and former President John Mahama in terms of fighting corruption cases among government officials, the former Minister and former Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK in the Rawlings’ regime insisted he is not yet President.

“Every President fights corruption based on or whatever happens in his term. …I have not been a President”, Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah reiterated to host Paul Adom Otchere during a one-on-one interview.

“I hope to be President someday certainly in 2020 and during my term when any act of corruption that comes to my desk you will see how I deal with it”, he assured.

“I think in my [former] ministry you are aware when there was corruption allegations against a certain Chief Executive Officer who has been a very good friend mine I had him investigated”.

Meanwhile, former President Jerry John Rawlings says until Ghanaians assume the right duty and responsibility to assist in confronting the fight against corruption, government would have a hard time doing it alone.
