Give Amidu the needed logistics – Former Supreme Court Judge

Retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice S.A Brobbey, has requested that government expedite the provisions of logistics for the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

His concern comes after the special prosecutor, Martin Amidu, publicly criticized government for failing to provide the needed logistics to make his work easier.

At a National Audit Forum organized by the Ghana Audit Service, Mr Amidu vented frustrations, which held hiim back from delivering on his mandate, citing a lack of legislative instrument to give teeth to his office, among others.

“I have no legislation so I use my common sense,” Mr. Amidu said.

Former Judge Justice Brobbey is worried that the special prosecutor is handicapped in the performance of his duties since the needed provisions of logistics for the office of the Special Prosecutor has not been provided.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Citizens Chamber Wednesday, the former judge said “the special prosecutor has been candid to anyone who is concerned with what he does after telling the world of his requirement before he starts work.”

He added that the logistics should be provided “sooner rather than later so the Special Prosecutor can start work.”
