Hearts of Oak forward, Abednego Tetteh says a lot of Ghanaian players will stay in the domestic leagues if they were paid $1,000 as wages.

Most Ghanaian clubs struggle to meet the minimum wages of players leading to player exodus season after season.

In a latest report released by CEIS, Ghana is the second exporter of footballers in Africa which gives credence to players moving out for greener pastures due to low wages.

Abednego Tetteh, after playing in Sudan, Ethiopia and India says money is what led him to play in those leagues.

“If Ghanaian players are paid $1,000 here, i don’t think most of them will move. It’s because of the money and that is a fact. I was never ok when i played in Ethiopia for Jimma Abba Jifar. After the team was knocked out of the Confederation Cup i decided to quit. Where i slept at Bechem is better than where i slept in Ethiopia”.

“I have suffered from bad agents in the past. If i had the same agents like Baba Rahman, he is the luckiest footballer in Ghana. Even when he gets injured he still get good teams to play. If i had a good agent i would have been playing in the Black Stars now”, he added.
