With over 5,000 cases of COVID-19 recorded currently in Ghana, Afrikania Mission, an African-based traditional organization, believes the numbers could have been a lot worse but for their intervention.

Represented by the National Youth Chair, Fafafe Agbodzi-Sewornu, they told GhanaWeb on its #SayItLoud show, that as custodians of the land, they have taken it upon themselves to offer sacrifices and do divinations on behalf of the country; to avert what could have been a disaster for the country.

They argued that despite having moved rapidly among countries, affecting many and killing several others, Ghana could have been spared the misfortune if government had called on traditional leaders to purge the land after the first two recorded cases.

Mr. Agbodzi-Sewornu, though blamed government for the country’s high numbers said the situation has been salvaged significantly because of their prayers.

“We don’t have government support, we are promoting and making researches out of our own pockets. If we were all to fold our hands, the traditional set-up, because government is not minding us, things would have been worse than this, I’m telling you on authority.”

“We are giving our support to the country on a low scale, based on the little resources and support we have. We did divinations and offered sacrifices. I can boldly tell you, we are in touch with divinities in the Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana, and Nigeria”. He told GhanaWeb’s Laud Harris Adu-Asare on #SayItLoud.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded some 5,735 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 1,754 recoveries and 29 deaths.
