Ghana loses Ethan Ampadu to Wales

Ghana has failed in its pursuit to naturalise Ethan Ampadu after the promising Chelsea youngster made his competitive appearance for Wales in the Uefa Nations League.

Although making his first appearance for Wales in a friendly against France in 2017, the son of former professional footballer Kwame Ampadu was eligible to represent Ghana as friendly games do not bar a player from making a change of national team, per the FIFA rules.

But it appears all hopes for Ghana is now lost after head coach Ryan Giggs handed Ampadu his competitive debut last Thursday.

The 17-year-old impressed greatly as Wales thumped the Republic of Ireland - the country his father represented - 4-1.

He provided a great assist for Arsenal ace, Aaron Ramsey, to score the third goal.
