Ghana conceals results of Gyan injury scan

The Black Stars captain was flown into Mongomo to undergo further examinations of the injury he sustained in the quarter final win over Guinea.

Gyan returned to the Black Stars camp in Malabo on Tuesday afternoon and has since not trained with the side.

There are several reports ruling the Al Ain ace out of the semi final clash against the tournament hosts on Thursday.

There is however a subtle feeling Gyan’s injury progress is being kept in the dark for purposes of surprising Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.

The Ghana team have refused to let out information about the results of the further tests conducted on the prolific striker.

Ghana’s assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says Gyan’s health status remains a secret for now for the protection of the player and the team.

“He [Asamoah Gyan] has returned from Mongomo where he had the scan, the doctors have told us [the results] but I think we are not allowed to let every single information out there,” Konadu said in the pre-match press conference.

“This is to protect ourselves, the player and the team.

“So if we can hold on a bit, at the right time the information will be let out.”
