New General manager of Asante Kotoko, Goerge Amoako has stated that the reason Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are playing a two legged friendly game is to reunite and be the front runners of Ghana Football as it used to be sometimes ago.

Goerge Amoako also admitted that the two glamorous clubs in Ghana can no longer compete with the rest of African biggest clubs and both clubs will need to wake up from their slumber to be able recapture their glory days.

“We are not as we used to be 15-20 years back. It should end from today. The purpose of organizing this game is to put these two clubs together again. We have to take over the command of Ghana football. We are going to engage in serious reforms and at this stage, Kotoko and Hearts must be the front runners of the reforms. Gone are the days when clubs up their budget when they are facing Kotoko and Hearts we knew some years back. If Kotoko and Hearts can’t rise, Ghana football will remain like this” He told the media at the launch of the Clash of the titans football match.

He continued “I recently chanced on CAF list of 60 African clubs, and couldn’t find Kotoko and Hearts in it, It very sad. We can be rivals on the pitch. But off the pitch we need to come together and fight for a common goal. We are going back to our olden days when we used to be together and Ghana football was the toast of African football” He concluded.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Will face arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday 26 August before the two teams face off in the second leg on 2nd September at the same venue.
