Galamsey soldiers are corrupt; must swear by Antoa Nyamaa - Abronye DC

In order to ensure that members of Operation Vanguard are not corrupted in the discharge of their duties in clamping down on illegal mining in the country, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart wants them to swear Antoa Nyamaa, a dreaded and popular river god deity in the Ashanti Region.

“I do not trust all these soldiers working with Operation Vanguard. I will want us to take all of them to Antoa to swear by the deity that should they engage in corrupt deals, Antoa Nyamaa will struck them dead. I do not trust them at all because they are out there making money under the guise of fighting galamsey” Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe alleged on Okay Fm.

He observed that the military are on ground pursuing their parochial interest by receiving huge bribes from miners warning the government to be careful with them.

According to him, the only way to guarantee that these soldiers will not abandon their core mandate is to agree to swear by the river deity.

“Their colleagues were there extorting money from miners so they also saw the Operation Vanguard as an opportunity to enrich themselves and I can tell you that they are just out there making money”, he claimed.

He wants government to step in immediately and regulate the operations of the military he said their involvement in the operations were not required in the first place.
