Youth and Sports Minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has shared his thoughts on the Ghana Premier League(GPL), branding it as being “unattractive”, thereby making sourcing of sponsorship for it, difficult.

The Sports Minister is being alleged, since his appointment, to have an agenda against Kwesi Nyantakyi and his administration, an assertion the Minister has swiftly discounted.

He is a known critic of Nyantakyi’s administration, who has not made secret, his belief that the GFA has failed to make the GPL attractive.

In an interview with Accra-based radio station, Asempa Fm, the Sports Minister said; “I have followed football and played football even before the professionals era came, so when I am talking, I am not ignorant about what I am saying. The truth is that, our local league is not attractive and it is sinking.

“If they say it is one of the best, why are they not getting sponsorship?”

The Ghana Premier league is already in its 25th week and, it is highly impossible to secure sponsorship at this time, but some officials of the FA are confident of securing sponsorship for the 2016/17 league season.
