GFA to meet government in attempt to stop its dissolution

A five-member committee appointed by the embattled Ghana Football Association(GFA) is scheduled to meet the government today in a last minute attempt to stop the association from being dissolved by the government.

The planned talks follows the investigative work done by the undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which uncovered the President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi accepting $65,000 from the undercover journalist.

The GFA Committee which include Mr Kweku Eyiah, Benjamin Nab Eyeson, Kurts Okraku, Isaac Addo ans Samuel Opoku Nti, will have a tough assignment convincing government that the association must not be dissolved as a huge section of Ghanaians are angry over the rot that was seen in the video where over one hundred referees and match officials were seen collecting various sums of monies as bribes to compromise their fairness in soccer matches.

A statement issued by the GFA Executive Committee indicated that the five-member committee has also been tasked with the assignment of drawing up a programme for lasting reforms and that the GFA will soon come out a road map for the election of a substantive President in accordance with its statutes.

An Ethics Committee headed by COP Nathan Kofi Boakye is expected to deal with the officials captured in the video taking bribes.
