Since the announcement of the premiere of latest investigative piece ‘Number 12’ by Ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the question of who is behind the mask has been on the lips of most Ghanaians especially the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

The NPP lawmaker on Wednesday released some photos which he claimed to be images of the man behind the mask, but that did not answer the question of who exactly is Anas, as many pictures started popping up on social media which generated the #IamAnas trends.

Revealing the true identity of Anas may not be an easy task as according to the investigative Journalist, being anonymous has always been his secret weapon which he has used to the benefit of society.

“Over the years, I have had this symbol on and I usually don’t take it out because it helps when it comes to my anonymity,” Anas told BBC Focus on Africa's Sammy Darko in an interview in 2015.

When asked if he can unmask, the award-winning journalist gradually took off his trademark beaded face veil revealing the ‘real’ Anas in spectacles.

“So you see, you never know what you are going to find. For me, the important thing is to focus. It is not about unmasking Anas, it is about all of us putting our hands together and ensuring that we have a better continent,” he noted after “unmasking”.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest exposé dubbed “Number 12” aimed at “cleaning” what he describes as a “ tainted football system for a fresh start”.

Scheduled to be premiered on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, the investigations on Ghana football, according to Anas will be explosive.

Excerpts of the investigative piece which were shown privately to President Akufo-Addo led to the arrest of the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Nyantakyi, the presidency said, was spotted in the video soliciting bribes from some football investors in the name of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia.

As scandalous as Nyantakyi's arrest may be, those close to Anas said it was just a tip of the iceberg.
