The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have appointed Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng and Dr. Kofi Amoah as liaison officers for Ghana, to ensure the smooth participation of the country in upcoming international competitions.

According to FIFA, the two-man team comprising Mr. Akenteng, Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Dr. Amoah a business man, would see to it that the Ghana U-20 female team participates in the FIFA Women's World World Cup slated for France from 5th-24th August, 2018, as well as the National U-17 Female team’s World Cup in Uruguay later in the year.

In a release signed by Madam Fatima Samoura, General Secretary of FIFA, it stated that the primary objective of both FIFA and the Government of Ghana was to ensure the continues running of football in the country.

“FIFA and CAF continue to closely monitor and assess relevant developments in relation to the current situation of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). FIFA understands that various court proceedings have begun in Ghana aiming to investigate the circumstances reported in relation to the GFA and some of its officials.

“In light of this, with the primary objectives of both ensuring the continues running of football and preventing jeopardizing of FIFA/CAF’s ongoing review process of the situation of the GFA, please take note that as coordinated and agreed with CAF, a two-person team has been appointed to liaise with FIFA and CAF on International Competitions issues”.

Meanwhile, this decision agreed by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana has cleared all doubts and fear in Ghanaians that Ghana stood the chance of forfeiting all the international competitions it had qualified to play and host including the upcoming African Women’s Cup scheduled for Ghana.

It would be recalled that a Government delegation led by Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports traveled to meet with the world governing body of football to discuss and find a lasting solution to the current problems that has rocked Ghana football and its administration.
