Disband all vigilante groups or face us in court - Group to political parties

A civil society group known as Patriotic Front Movement of Ghana (PAFMOG) has called on all political parties particularly the governing NPP and Opposition NDC, to disband all political vigilante groups with immediate effect or face them in court.

Political vigilantism has been a major security issue in the country since President Akufo-Addo took office.

Many have expressed worry about the situation blaming the security agencies for failing to crush those groups.

Efforts by the police administration to stop their activities in the past 22 months, however, have all proven unsuccessful.

The National Democratic Congress through its General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, for instance have indicated that until the governing party disband all their vigilante groups, it will continue to engage their services.

But a statement from the group insists all political parties engaging the services of the group must urgently stop or meet them in court.

“The Patriotic Front Movement of Ghana (PAFMOG) with immediate effect is calling on all political parties especially NPP and NDC to disband all their Vigilante groups to save our dear country Ghana from a possible War in 2020 elections”.

“We the patriotic front movement of Ghana will soon go to court if these two political parties refused to disband vigilante groups. We are calling every good citizen of this country to support PAFMOG”.

It has also called on all youth in the country, to rise up and fight the menace. The statement explains “…the youth of this country and the entire concerned citizens should arise and say NO to these vigilantism in Ghana”.
