Reports that the only patient to have tested positive for Coronavirus in the Upper East Region absconded the hospital with her husband is not true.

This is according to a report sighted by MyNewsGh.com on the Facebook wall of renowned Journalist in the Region, Albert Sore.

According to Sore, the lady was rather discharged by the hospital after she was treated of the ailment of which she was admitted.

The Health Directorate of the Region said the lady was not informed that she had been tested for the deadly virus hence her leaving the hospital.

His post read, “The health director explained that based on information they gathered from the hospital and the patient herself, what they know is that; while on admission after her samples were taken, the woman recovered and her symptoms were no longer showing. There was not active treatment ongoing with her so she requested to be discharged”.

He added, ‘the slip was that the woman was not properly informed she was being investigated for covid-19 but she was asked to self-isolate. Health director seems quite certain that since the woman’s case is a mild one, there is no need to panic as long as we are taking precautions; washing our hands, observing social distancing, etc”.
