Manager at the office of Chief Executive Officer for COCOBOD, Fiifi Boafo, has asked Ghanaians to disregard media reports that the state agency had canceled its scholarship scheme for wards of cocoa farmers.

There have been media reports that the COCOBOD had seized granting scholarships to brilliant wards of Cocoa Famers.

The Chief Executive Officer for COCOBOD reportedly stated in an interview that his outfit could no longer grant scholarship to students of cocoa farmers due to the fall in cocoa price.

However, speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Tuesday, Fiifi Boafo explained that the CEO’s statement had been taken out of context.

According to him, all first years in the Senior High Schools are automatically covered under the government’s Flagship Free Senior High School policy. He added that these students cannot be on both COCOBOD scholarship and the Free SHS policy.

He explained that the Chief Executive Officer for COCOBOD only asked Ghanaians to support made in Ghana products by consuming more cocoa products since there has been a fall in cocoa price.

“How our CEO’s statement was misinterpreted clearly explains the height of irresponsible and unprofessionalism on the part of some journalists,” he fumed.
