Bono East minister urges compliance despite zero case of coronavirus

The Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Amoakohene has urged residents in the region not to be complacent in the fight against COVID-19.

Kofi Amoakohene made the call during the first leg of a monitoring tour of the region to get first-hand information on the measures put in place by the various Municipal and District Assemblies in the fight against the novel Coronavirus.

According to the Minister, even though the Bono East region is one of the four regions yet to record any case of the novel coronavirus since its outbreak in the country, residents cannot be complacent by flouting laid down directives.

He revealed that it is important for residents to prioritise adherence to the various precautionary measures and protocols instituted by the various Municipal and District Assemblies.

“…No confirmed case of COVID-19 has so far been recorded in the Bono East region. So far 45 samples have been taken from suspected patients in the region and sent to the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) in Kumasi for testing including contact of a confirmed case in the Upper East region. We should not embrace complacency and relax in our fight against the coronavirus but continue to enforce the adherence to the precautionary measures”.

Mr Amoakohene who used the opportunity to inspect the Isolation and Preposition Centres in Atebubu, market venues and lorry parks said he was impressed and satisfied with the actions on the ground as the Municipal and District Assemblies have applied all instructions that were related to them to the letter.

Ghana’s case count as far as the COVID-19 pandemic is concerned stands at 1,671 with 188 recoveries and 16 deaths.
