Member of Parliament [MP] for Tema West Constituency, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has said that Justice Willam Atuguba’s 2012 election ruling at the Supreme Court forced the NPP to bring on board 'Vigilante Groups' to help them become more beady-eyed at the polling stations.

In an interview on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ discussion segment, Carlos Ahenkorah disclosed that the ruling party cannot deny the fact that they have vigilante groups who operate on their behalf, but they were forced by Justice Willam Atuguba’s ruling after the 2012 election court case to have such groups on board to help them at the polling stations.

“We are not saying we don’t have party vigilante’s, all we are saying is that they are not part of our party structures, the NDC’s style of winning elections at the polling grounds made us start this process to help us have tight security presence on the election grounds for fairness as Justice Atuguba advised . . . ,” he said.

Explaining further, he said party vigilantes have been very helpful to the party, therefore, they cannot disown them anywhere.

“Party vigilantes have been very helpful to us after Justice William Atuguba told us elections are won at polling stations and not in his court, therefore we cannot disown them anywhere,” the Tema West MP said.

While opining that both the NPP and the NDC should admit and heed to President Akufo-Addo's call to disband them, he, however, wondered what would become the future of these young men, especially those without any form of formal education.

“ . . What will be left for a person to engage in to keep him/her active after spending more years of his age at home due to his/her parents' inability to pay school bills?” he quizzed.
