Akufo-Addo on 3-day visit to Western Region

President Nana Akufo-Addo will today June, Friday 8, resume his nationwide tour with a visit to the Western Region.

The 3-day visit will afford him the opportunity to inspect on-going projects and interact with chiefs and opinion leaders in the Region.

This comes after his 2-day tour of the Ashanti Region earlier in June this year.

While in the Ashanti Region, President Nana Akufo-Addo declared his government’s commitment to the development of the road infrastructure to facilitate the transportation of goods and services.

According to him, the improved road network will enhance efficient service delivery that will improve the weak economy his government inherited.

The President also cut sod for the construction of Kumasi Airport.

He will begin his Western Regional tour at Tarkwa where he will meet with the chiefs and people of the gold mining town.

He will also inspect on-going projects and visit some cocoa farms in the region.

While there, Akufo-Addo will address a durbar of chiefs and people in the Northern part of the Region who are demanding that their area is carved as a standalone region; Western North Region.

GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent has learnt, the President will visit Axim in the Nzema East Municipality to cut sod for construction of Axim Sea Defence Wall.

This project is one of major campaign promises promised the good people of Western Region during the 2016 campaign period.

The Regional Correspondent can also report that since the assumption of office by the NPP government, no new physical project being executed in Western Region is ready for commission.

The tour will starts today Friday, June 8 and ends on Sunday, June 10, 2018.

The President will be accompanied by the Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Ministers of State, party members led by the NPP Western Regional Minister, Mr. Francis Ndede Siah and other Members of Parliament in the Region.
