General Captain of Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has shed light on the important role the more experienced players in Ghana’s squad played in Tuesday’s 2-0 triumph over Guinea-Bissau.

Kwesi Appiah’s men struggled to assert themselves on the Djurtus who looked more likely to score in the opening 45 minutes.

The Black Stars however burst into life in the second half to brush aside the stubborn Guinea-Bissau side.

Jordan Ayew broke the deadlock few seconds after the restart with a delightful finish before Partey sealed the victory in the 72nd minute.

Speaking to reporters after the match, the Kayserispor forward who watched the entire game from the bench highlighted the contributions of the senior players.

“Honestly we didn’t have the best of games in the first half, we were a bit worried and it was pressure but we went into the dressing room, spoke to ourselves to calm down. Both the technical team and we the experienced players had to bring in our ideas on board and you saw what happened, we came back in the second half to score early that was what boosted our confidence and we topped the group and wait for our next opponent”.

Ghana face Tunisia in the last 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
