The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the week has been engaged in a tussle with the Electoral Commission over an item raised in a communique issued by the latter.

The Commission in the communique indicated IPAC has concluded on a new voters' register after 'an exhaustive deliberation'.

However, the NDC condemned the EC for misleading the public because according to them, the issue of a new voters' register was not extensively discussed. Their position was backed by other parties who attended the meeting.

This subsequently led to a banter between Dr Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairman of the EC and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Director of Elections for the NDC. click to read

Speaking further on this issue, on Joy Newsfile programme, Saturday, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said even though the issue of a new voters' register is a subject for all to discuss, there's actually no need for a new one.

"It is a subject for all of us to discuss but in my opinion, there is no such need for a new voters’ register. Why do we require a new register . . . our practice has been that we replace the new register every decade," he indicated.
