2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Best Music Producer Of The Year nominee, Dr Ray arguably is one of the best music producers in the country. Due to that, he tells Zionfelix.com that he does not get time to even breath because musicians are always on his neck.
When asked about his charges that make people rush to him, Dr Ray Beatz of Talent House Recording Studio answered that he does not take anything more than Gh1000. The sound engineer and producer known in real life as Nana Yaw Nkrumah said the amount he charges per song depends on the artiste.
According to him, his charges for upcoming musicians differ from already established musicians.
“I charge Gh1000 and below but nothing above that. I’ve never charged Gh2000 since I started working as a producer.
The amount I charge is normal for me to pay all my bills so I’m cool with that. Everywhere costs so you have to be strategic to also get customers or maintain the ones you have.”
Comparing his figure to other music producers, Dr. Ray said his Gh1000 charge is moderate.
“Sometimes Gh1000, 900, 800. The least I take is Gh700 so it is cool. I’m considering the upcoming guys because I’ve been there before so I’ve to give them that opportunity for them to get good beat for their songs.
Now the system is also hard so you have to take that into consideration too”
