The reception in Kumasi is like my first kiss - Paa Kwasi

Highlife singer, Nana Kwasi Aryeh, has likened the reception he received at the Adonko Bitters Jam in Kumasi to the feeling he had when he was kissed for the first time.

The “ Wo Anka” hitmaker known in showbiz as Paa Kwasi, over the weekend thrilled fans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Paa Kwasi performed with the likes of Daddy Lumba, Guru, Mr. Bentil, Flowking Stone among others at a show put together by Adonko Bitters at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. At the show, Paa Kwasi, who is a solo artiste, performed with a live band as he thrilled over 3 thousand patrons. His fans throughout the performance chanted his name and sung along with him, his back-to-back hit songs.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s mid-morning show “Work and Happiness” with Kofi Asante, on the reception in Kumasi, the ‘Y3 bro dada’ hit maker said: “it is something that I can’t really describe, it was a great feeling to know that people actually love you. People were chanting Paa Kwasi right from the airport to the hotel. The feeling I can’t describe, I mean that kind of feeling like a first kiss, when you finally get the girl you have been eyeing and you subsequently have your first kiss, it was really crazy”.

He added that his new project was will help to resurrect HighLife music at a time when some people say that the genre is dying adding that this urge informed his decision to go for Adofo’s instrumentation on his latest song.

“The fact is, years back we complained about Highlife missing, dead or is nowhere to be found. When we talk about people who are doing Highlife for people to have a feel of it, they are not really there. We the young thugs, we are not getting it on point; most of us are doing the RnB kind of highlife so I need to revive the real highlife.”

He also expressed hopes of winning categories he will be nominated for in the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in the Highlife category.
