Broadcast Journalist with Zylofon FM and Reggae musician, Abubakar Ahmed popularly called Blakk Rasta has stated that Reggae/Dancehall Artiste, Emmanuel Andrews Samini a.k.a Samini should have been awarded the ‘Artiste of the Decade’ at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) and not Rapper Sarkodie.

He wondered why Samini who came into the music scene way before Sarkodie was not recognized for his immense contributions to the growth of the music industry.

According to him, this is the time Samini needs the ‘Artiste of the Decade’ award adding that if given to him would have revived his musical career which is perceived to be fading off.

Speaking in a video sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the controversial musician explained that though he loves Sarkodie, he would have wished Samini had received the award.

Comparing Samini and Sarkodie’s performances in the just ended VGMA, he said Sarkodie performed poorly as compared to his performances in the past, but Samini has been consistent in thrilling patrons with his performances.

He observed that Samini gingered the audience who were dosing off due to the boring nature of the programme at a certain point.

Blakk Rasta advised Sarkodie to up his game if he has plans of winning international awards.

‘To me alone Samini should have been given the Artiste of the Decade Award. I love Sarkodie but I think he had stayed in one place for long. He has risen and I think he can rise higher, and take it to another level but he seems comfortable at one place, right now what I see from his performances is that he wants to drop. Look at Samini where he started he performed throughout though he relaxed at a point, he gingered the audience, with his performances. When I look at his performances and what he has done in the past, I think he deserved the award, he needs it now to be able to prove a point,’ he opined in an interview.

Blakk Rasta said musicians who are unable to perform live should muster the art.

Samini wowed patrons of the VGMAs with live band performances last Saturday.
