It was a night that saw Gospel Musician Joe Mettle make history as he defied the odds and took home the biggest award on a night when Ghanaians celebrated creativity in music.

The 18th Vodafone Ghana Music awards was the spectacle many had waited for with bated breath and boy did it come with its own surprises. Not that Ghanaians were overly surprised with the outfits for starters, well, except for some that appeared overly exaggerated. An observer on Facebook chose to describe some female celebrities as 'teletubbies' because of their outfits. But all in all, the event is one that appears to have met the expectations of many.

Joe Mettle beat competition from Sarkodie, EL, Stonebwoy, MzVee and Medikal to be crowned Artist of the year even as Stonebwoy also made history as the only act to have won the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year for three consecutive years.
