NPP Primaries: 'The devil you know is better than the angel you don't know'- Adwoa Safo jabs

The current Member of Parliament for the Dome-Kwabenya, Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo who describes herself as the ‘unbeatable candidate’ has admonished constituents’ to vote for her in the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries on Saturdays, June 20, 2020.

According to Deputy Majority Leader, her victory will only increase the NPP's chances of recapturing the seat in the 2020 general elections.

The Dome-Kwabenya constituency parliamentary seat has for years been occupied by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Adwoa Safo, in 2013, succeeded Aaron Mike Oquaye who was the MP for the constituency from 2005 to 2013 under the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Despite the internal tight competition from the son of the former MP, Mike Oquaye Jnr., who for the second time is contesting Adwoa Safo for the Dome-Kwabenya seat, she believes that the constituents’ will once again give her the mandate in Saturday’s primaries.

“I want to contest again, for me I believe that I’ve served my people, I believe that it's not by my might. It is the Lord that I serve that has put me there to serve my people…I have no fear at all. I believe that I have served my people… I have lived with them in opposition and when we were in power and they have seen what I am capable of. When I meet them, I always say to them that the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know,” she stated.

She admonished her party to pay attention to what the statistics say about her candidature in the past and why they should retain her.

In May 2020, Lawyer Adwoa Safo accused her opponent, Mike Oquaye Jnr. of attempting to eliminate her. She reached out to the NPP's national executives and asked them to call her opponent to order adding that her life is being threatened.

The two NPP aspirants with the hope of capturing the hearts of constituents have embarked on massive campaigns in the Dome-Constituency.

The incumbent MP who seems not to be perturbed by the moves of his opponent said that “It’s about telling the people what I have done and hope to do again and what holds for us as NPP in the 2020 election that is ahead of us. That is the bigger picture we ought to look at.”
