NDC planned to unseat Nyantakyi after 2016 polls - Nii Lante Vanderpuye

Former Minister for Youth and Sports Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has disclosed that the NDC government had planned to unseat Kwesi Nyantakyi as the President of the Ghana Football Association had the party won the 2016 elections.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with Esther Abankwa on Angel TV, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye admitted that they planned to take the radical approach and suffer the consequences to help get results of improving football than to let the game suffer.

"Yes, it was something we had planned to do, because if it was becoming impossible to get the support of those concerned, then it was better we take the radical approach if only it would help to get things done and improve football in the country," Nii Lantey said whiles answering a question posed to him in that regards.

Nii Lantey Vanderpuye further noted that during the late President Mills era, they went to FIFA to know the way forward, should they dissolve GFA and FIFA gave them the guidelines.

Since the Anas documentary titled "Number 12" was premiered, the leadership of the Football Association has received lots of backlash from the general public which has resulted in the resignation of Kwesi Nyantakyi as the GFA Boss and his subsequent 90 days ban from football related activities by FIFA's Ethics Committee.
