My dream has finally come true - Beauty Queen

A ‘serial’ beauty pageant contestant, Abena Akuba is still besides herself with joy for emerging winner at Miss Queen Beauty Universe held in Spain recently and her joy does not seem to subside anytime soon because her dream has finally become a reality.

This is because since 2012, she has participated in almost all the notable beauty contests in the country—Miss Universe Ghana, Miss Ghana, Top Model Ghana, Miss Malaika, Miss Earth among others and always the ultimate title eluded her till she finally wore the crown of the Miss Queen Beauty Universe pageant in faraway Spain recently.

“I can’t thank God enough. Infact, I thank God for emerging winner of Queen Beauty Universe contest. My dream has finally come true after a long struggle” Abena Akuba told Showbiz in an interview on Monday.

According to Abena, when she was mentioned as the winner of Queen Beauty Universe she burst into tears just looking at how far she has come since she started taking part in pageants.

“I shed tears on stage because I know where I was coming from. This has been my longest dream and I am glad the dream has finally become a reality” she said.

According to Abena, it has always been her dream to be a beauty queen while growing up. She was bullied and teased in school so she made it a priority to gain an international platform to allow her voice to be heard as she fights for young girls who are going through what she went through.

Abena is of many parts. In addition to participating in various pageants, has also modeled for international designers around the world such as Crème de la Crème from the United States, Andres Aquino from Spain, Sushma Patel from India, Catalan from France, late Kofi Ansah from Ghana, just to mention a few.

She is also a brand ambassador for Garnier hair products and has taken part in fashion shows such as Contour Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and others by Vlisco, Woodin, Da Viva and GTP. She has also done TV for Surfline LTG, Lydia contraceptive pills etc.

Abena who was a finalist at X-Factor Ghana’s version in 2012 also acted in the American TV series Afri-American and srecently featured in an American movie set to be released next year.

As if that is not enough, Abena is into music too. She has five singles among which are Boko Haram featuring Kwaw Kesse to her credit and still working on her album.
