My children are banned from watching Kumawood movies – Captain Smart

Most Ghanaians don’t take delight in watching or patronizing local movies as a result of many factors. While some complain about the content, others worry about the production quality.

In the voice of Captain Smart, host of Adom FM’s ‘Dwaso Nsem, has said in a recent interview that he will never allow his children to watch Kumawood movies.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, the host of the political morning show said Kumawood movies are noted for abusive words that have a negative influence on children.

Contributing to a discussion relating to the seeming collapse of the Kumawood industry, he noted that Kumawood movies are very famous for their comic scenes which mostly are accompanied by insults.

“I will never allow my children to watch Kumawood movies. I will rather watch it in my bedroom far away from my children. Too much insult. It will be a parental crime if I allow them to watch it…,” he said.

However, he stressed that he personally do watch Kumawood movies because he’s matured enough to overlook the insults but the children may copy everything hook line and sinker. To avoid this, they’re not allowed to watch them in the house – indefinite ban.
