My DJ pushes me to do songs that I don’t want to do - Sarkodie

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie seems certain that this year’s edition of the annual Vodafone 020 Live concert would be nicer than the previous editions. He said his performance on Saturday will be exciting as he is working with ace producer and musician, Kwame Yeboah to bring up live music performances on the night.

Sarkodie recounted working with Kwame Yeboah on his largely successful ‘Rapperholic’ concert in December 2011, and said that working together on the 020 Live concert should be a smooth progression. Sarkodie has also hinted that the video for ‘Pizza & Burgar’, the first single off his joint collaboration album with Jayso, is ready and would be premiered at the 020 Live Concert.

The rapper hinted that he would perform some new music on the night, “Personally, I get tired when I listen to my old songs, I wouldn’t like to perform my old songs. I like performing my new songs. Anytime I perform ‘Borga Borga’ or ‘Baby’, it is because of Mensah, my DJ who pushes me to do it. But I had to plead with my team that I have two new songs for my fans that I would like to do for them. So I have some surprises and its going to be a good day”.

He said he is grateful to God for what seems to be a good year, winging the BET Award and being nominated for MOBO Awards and MTV EMAs. He thanked fans for supporting him throughout his journey.

The third edition of 020 Live takes place at the Dome on Saturday 29 September, featuring Ludacris, 4 x 4, Sarkodie, Naeto C and Black and Peach.
